Boys Lacrosse Coach - Cam McClay

PRESS RELEASE - Archbishop Williams names 2010 Alum Cameron McClay to lead its  Boy’s Lacrosse program, succeeding Coach Matt Marks who departed because of a job commitment. Coach McClay, son of Williams Athletic Director Gordie McClay, has worn many hats and been a steady presence in the school’s Athletic Program for years.  He served as the Boy’s JV Hockey Coach, acted as the Official Scorekeeper at Basketball games, and volunteered as needed throughout the Program.  He also brings a wealth of lacrosse knowledge and experience, including an 8-year stint as  Sacred Heart High School’s (Kingston)  Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach.

AD McClay stated, "I thank Coach Marks for his leadership and commitment to our student-athletes and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.  And I’m excited to have Cam assume the leadership of our Boy’s Lacrosse program. His good work at Sacred Heart over the years speaks for itself,  and I know he will bring that same skill, love for the game, dedication, leadership, and enthusiasm to our Lacrosse program. Of course, I also look forward to working with my son again.”

President Dennis Duggan (Williams Class of ’70)  added, "I'm very pleased that Cam has accepted the appointment to be our next Head Lacrosse Coach. He has established an excellent reputation in the lacrosse community  and has a unique understanding  of what it takes to succeed as a student-athlete at Williams and to be able to compete in the Catholic Central League.”

Coach McClay is more than ready for the challenge, stating, "I am grateful for the opportunity to return to my alma mater. We had great success when I played here and I’m excited about  the opportunity to put my mark on our  Lacrosse program.” McClay added, “I wish Coach Marks all the best. I’m thankful for the chance to return to the Williams community, coach a sport I love and work with my Dad to continue to develop  student-athletes who are good citizens and leaders as we  build on our Lacrosse program’s legacy of success.”

Principal Dr. Michael Volonnino summed up the school’s position on this promotion, "Coach McClay is extremely well-respected in the local lacrosse community. I am proud to welcome him to this new role.”
