Archbishop Williams hires Coach Doug Nolan to Lead Girls Ice Hockey Program


PRESS RELEASE - Archbishop Williams names Doug Nolan to lead its Girls Hockey program. Coach Nolan brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and experience to AWHS, including playing professionally. He is currently the Director of Hockey Operations at the Boch Blazers & Charles River Blazers Hockey Club, in Dedham, MA. 

AD Gordie McClay stated, "I’m excited to have Coach Nolan assume the leadership of our Girl’s Hockey program. His reputation in the hockey community is outstanding. He will bring experience, dedication, and love for the game to our program, and we look forward to working with him to take our program to the next level”. 

President Dennis Duggan (Williams Class of ’70) added, "At AWHS, our coaches are, first and foremost, outstanding teachers and mentors. In that regard, we have been most fortunate to have our Girls Hockey program led by Coaches McHale, Leong, and McClay over the last 16 years. For the same reasons we are very confident that coach Nolan is the right person to build upon that proud legacy and lead our program forward in the ultra-competitive CCL .” 

In commenting about his appointment, Coach Nolan stated, “I am truly honored and excited about this opportunity to lead the Archbishop Williams Girls Hockey program.” He continued, “With a strong core of girls returning from last year’s team, we will be looking to build off of their experience and recreate a consistent winning culture to the program ”. 

Principal Dr. Michael Volonnino summed up the school’s position on the promotion, "Coach Nolan has an impressive hockey pedigree and is extremely well-respected in the local hockey community. I am looking forward to seeing where he will take our Girls Hockey program.” Archbishop Williams, a Grades 7-12, Catholic, co-educational school in Braintree is a proud member of the Catholic Central League.
